    AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: The 104-room Peabody Court was built in 1928 as a luxury apartment building in one of the city's poshest neighborhoods. The hotel features a two-story, marble-tiled lobby with a 6-foot-long Baccarat crystal chandelier. Straddling Baltimore's arts and business districts, the Peabody Court draws celebrities, dignitaries, and visitors to nearby theaters, shops, and galleries.

Amenity highlights: Adjacent to the lobby, guests can read leather-bound classics in a wood-paneled library. The hotel fitness room has a weight machine, treadmill, exercise bike, and stair machine; guests can also use the Downtown Athletic Club a half-mile away (fee).

Insider tip: Baltimore's Antiques Row begins three blocks west of the hotel on Howard Street. In the 800 block, Drusilla's Books carries an impressive collection of old and rare children's books.

Guests can choose from several hundred leather-bound books and read them in the quiet, paneled library three steps down from the lobby. Couches and wing chairs sit next to diamond-paned windows that overlook Mount Vernon Square.

On the second floor, the fitness center has stair and weight machines, a treadmill, exercise bike, television, and watercooler. Large windows offer expansive views of the city from the 13th floor, which houses a baby grand piano.
